Amidst all the rumors and speculations circulating on various social media websites suggesting that veteran actress Jaclyn Jose do not deserve her Best Actress win in the recently concluded 69th Cannes Film Festival, this year’s jury finally justified what made them name the Filipina actress as this year’s Best Actress.

As seen on the video upload by the official YouTube channel of the prestigious award-giving body, the entire jury namely Arnaud Desplechin, Kirsten Dunst, Valeria Golino, Mads Mikkelsen, László Nemes, Vanessa Paradis, Katayoon Shahabi, Donald Sutherland, spearheaded by the award-winning director-producer George Miller.

According to Donald Sutherland, who portrayed the iconic antagonist, President Snow in the prominent “The Hunger Games” film franchise, shared that contrary to what some critics think, Jaclyn portrayed an important role in the film.

“I think the critics were wrong. That’s a kind of big time, leading role.”

Laszlo Nemes, expressed how powerful and moving Jaclyn’s performance was. He even stated that the Filipina actress’ character “broke his heart.”

“Come on, she’s the film. Have you seen the performance she gave? She broke my heart.”

Jaclyn received the sought-after Best Actress award for her award-winning performance in Brillante Mendoza’s ‘Ma Rosa’ at the festival’s awards night last Sunday (May 22, 2016) in Cannes, France.
