After being criticized for uploading a photo of his election ballot on his personal Instagram account, Kpamilya actress-host Mariel Padilla defended her husband, veteran action star Robin Padilla from allegations and speculations that he violated an election rule.
Through an Instagram upload on Monday (May 9, 2016) evening, the 31-year-old ABS-CBN actress-host explained the story behind the controversial and viral Instagram upload of her husband.
Mariel posted a screen grab from her Facebook timeline depicting an explanation from one of their Muslim friends. Apparently, the controversial photo of Robin’s ballot was just a sample ballot which he got from the official website of the Commission on Elections.
“people should be more careful. they shouldn’t assume! IT WAS A SAMPLE BALLOT!!! we call this the Trillanes Syndrome… no evidence all talk. if anyone can prove that Robin Padilla went to a precinct, voted and took photos of his ballot I will help you convict him. I am that sure that Robin didn’t do that… why? because ROBIN PADILLA CAN NOT VOTE!!!!”
Moreover, Mariel also tackled the viral photo of her wearing a “DU30″ shirt while casting her vote during the elections.
The ABS-CBN actress-host stated that the design of her shirt sis not reflect the name of Rodrigo Duterte, which was her presidential bet.
“honestly, i really don’t think that i did anything unlawful. i have reviewed the reminders of the voting rules. 1. i did not take photos inside the precinct because the comelec in charge told me it was not allowed. photo was taken in my personal car and outside the precinct where volunteers took photos with me as well so I thought I didn’t disobey any rule. 2. noone has seen my ballot. 3. i am aware that you are not allowed to wear a shirt that states the NAME of your candidate or his/her face. DU30 is not his name. if i have offended anyone i humbly ask for your forgiveness but it was never my intention to break the rules. Thank you for your understanding.”
