Renowned singer Lea Salonga showed her support for FHM’s Sexiest Woman for 2016 Jessy Mendiola after the latter received tons of hateful comments from bashers on social media.
On her Facebook account, Lea wrote that she thinks Jessy is one of the sexiest people she has ever known, which is derived more from how she carries herself rather than her physique alone. Lea added that sexiness is “in the eye of the beholder.”
Lea wrote:
“For the record, I think Jessy Mendiola is one of the sexiest people I’ve ever cast my eyes on. It has less to do with her physique (which, by the way, is nothing to sneeze at) and more to do with how she carries herself. She could gain 20 pounds right now and my opinion of her wouldn’t change.
Sexy has nothing to do with the outer shell and all to do with what’s in you. You could be a Victoria’s Secret model and have zero sex appeal, or be someone customarily plus-sized and get everyone in the room to set their gaze upon you. Or your opinion could differ from mine and not be any less valid. It’s in the eye of the beholder.”

The singer also shared a post that called to stop pitting women against each other. The post read:
“Please stop perpetuating the idea women must compete with other women. Please stop slut-shaming Jessie Mendiola (did I spell that right?). Please stop calling her arrogant or needing a dose of “humble pie” (I’ve seen the video of her winning comment, there’s nothing arrogant about it, you have just been brought up to HATE and condemn proud, confident and sexually open women). Please stop hating on her just because she “destroyed” your favorite love team. Please stop saying someone else “who didn’t need to be naked or dress promiscuously” should’ve won. Please stop posting photos of her Claiming she got “fat” and doesn’t deserve the win. Please stop talking like one type of woman is better or worse than another because we are not products. Just please stop for a second and filter what you post – even if it’s about celebrities.”
Jessy’s FHM victory was laden with controversy after the remarks she made during the FHM 100 Sexiest Party last July 26 at Valkyrie, the Palace.
Jessy was also slammed for the message she gave for her bashers. In an interview during the sidelines of the Sexiest Party, Jessy said: “I’m not the only one who’s being bashed. I’m not the only one’s who’s being hated. But hell, I’m the Sexiest Woman right now and I’m just really happy so I’ll just leave it at that.”
Bashers have also accused Jessy of editing her Boracay photos which ultimately led to her FHM win this year.
