It’s official!
The most prestigious beauty pageant in the world, Miss Universe, will be held at the Philippines, Department of Tourism secretary Wanda Teo confirmed last July 28, Thursday.
“We have a president who comes from Mindanao, and our Miss Universe is from Mindanao, so I think this is the best time for us to do the Miss Universe here in the Philippines,” the DOT secretary said.
The cost for hosting the pageant in the country, which will amount to a total of 11 million US dollars, will be shouldered entirely by the private sector.
“The government will not spend a single centavo here. It will the private sector that will shoulder the expenses,” she said.
The video from the press conference called by Teo at the department’s Makati office was posted on Undersecretary Kat de Castro’s Facebook account.
Also according to Teo, the pageant’s grand coronation will be on January 30, 2017.
