Court of Appeals affirms ruling for the arrest of Willie Revillame over child abuse case

The Court of Appeals released its final decision to revoke the motion for reconsideration filed by the lawyers of GMA actor-host Willie Revillame after being charged with child abuse back in 2011.

According to a three-page resolution released by the court on April 22, 2016, the appellate court’s 13th Division denied the motion for reconsideration filed by Willie’s lawyers because of lack of merit or failure to present new arguments on the case.

“We have carefully reviewed our decision vis-a-vis the motion for reconsideration and we have found that the issues raised in the present motion and the arguments advanced in support thereof are a mere rehash of those already considered and passed upon, and no new issue or substantial argument has been presented to justify the reversal or modification of the assailed decision.”

Back in October 2013, QC Judge Roberto Buenaventura issued an arrest warrant for Willie after “abusing” a six-year-old on national television. Apparently, the veteran host asked a young boy to perform a sexy dance number on his former talk show, “Willing Willie” in March 2011.

Willie contested the arrest warrant but after a couple of years, the Court of Appeals said that the regional trial court “committed no grave abuse of discretion” in issuing the arrest warrant.
