President Rodrigo Duterte wants none of Steve Harvey in the Philippines’ hosting of the Miss Universe pageant. The grand coronation night of the prestigious beauty pageant is set to be held in Manila for 2017 after negotiations with the Department of Tourism, the Philippines’ private sector, and the Miss Universe organizers.
In a press conference last September 1, Thursday, Tourism secretary Wanda Teo told reporters that the president expressed his negative sentiments on the news that Steve Harvey will be hosting the Miss Universe once again. This was after the famous US host made a mistake in the announcement of winners in the last Miss Universe where Pia Wurtzbach won.
“When I told the President about that, negative agad ang sabi niya: ‘Hindi pwede.’ That was what he said. And he said: ‘I’m going to talk to the Miss Universe na dapat hindi siya.’ So, that’s my problem,” Teo said, as quoted in GMA News.
According to Teo, she is yet to discuss the matter with the Miss Universe organizers.
